Coastal Builders were appointed to build this architecturally designed home for a semi-retired couple who were downsizing.  The home was designed by Burton & Carter Architects who  were involved throughout the construction process ensuring that the finer details were achieved to the Client’s requirements..

The clients were clear all along that they wanted a smaller double story house which was required to be built  so it did not intrude on the neighbor’s rural outlook.  The home consisted of:

Ground floor:

- Open plan living with Kitchen, Walk in Ppantry and hidden Laundry

First Floor:

- Main and Second bedroom with shared bathroom,  separate toilet and study

The house was constructed on a polished concrete slab which included Hydronic heating.  The first floor featured Spotted Gum timber flooring with stairs constructed of the same material. .  The clients were very clear in their design with the architects that they wanted the house to be energy efficient and economical to maintain.  Double Glazed PVC Windows were selected and the highest value “R” rating  of insulation was used throughout.

The house was clad in Night sky (black) corrugated Colourbond with a Hardies Matrix façade affixed To the front of the home.  Complementing the black Colourbond was the use of several Merbau batten screens  which are used to assist in insulation in the Summer and and provide an aesthetic  effect in breaking up the Black Colourbond cladding..

The clients and the architects were both very impressed with building process and the finish achieved throughout the home.
